Know ye not that they which run in a race run all,
but one receiveth the prize?
So run, that ye may obtain.
(1 Corinthians 9:24)
What’s On Your Mind?
You have probably heard the quote, “A mind is a terrible thing to waste.” How true that is, particularly when you study the importance of the mind in the Bible. The mind is the home of our thoughts, will, intellectual capabilities, and reasoning abilities. It is God’s desire that we have a “sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7) rather than a “corrupt mind” (1 Timothy 6:5; 2 Timothy 3:8). The only way to have a “sound mind” is to have “sound doctrine” (1 Timothy 1:10; 2 Timothy 4:3; Titus 1:9, 2:1) based on the Bible’s “sound words” (2 Timothy 1:13). The Bible clearly lays out the type of mind we should and should not have.
|The Biblical Mind||The Worldly Mind|
|“humbleness of mind” (Col 3:12)
“spiritually minded” (Rom 8:6)
“ready mind” (2 Cor 8:19)
“pure minds” (2 Pet 3:1)
“one mind” (Rom 15:6, Phil 1:27)
|“mind hardened in pride” (Dan 5:20)
“carnally minded” (Rom 8:6)
“wearied and faint in your minds” (Heb 12:3)
“reprobate mind” (Rom 1:28)
“double minded” (Jam 1:8; 4:8)
And be not conformed to this world:
but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind,
that ye may prove what is that good,
and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Echoes From Glory
“A state of mind that sees God in everything is evidence of growth in grace and a thankful heart.”
“Revival is a renewed conviction of sin and repentance, followed by an intense desire to live in obedience to God. It is giving up one’s will to God in deep humility.”
-Charles G. Finney (1792-1875), American evangelist
