The Bible’s Unsung Heroes (Part 1)

God’s word is full of real heroes that are familiar to most people, such as Abraham, Moses, Joshua, Jeremiah, John the Baptist, Jesus Christ, Peter, and Paul (to name a few).  At the same time, there are a number of lesser known heroes that are unknown to most.  Bezaleel and Aholiab are two such heroes.  These two men are introduced in Exodus 31 and were responsible for the workmanship of the tabernacle furniture.  The tabernacle was the place of worship in the Old Testament and while the components of the tabernacle were given to God by Moses, it was Bezaleel and Aholiab who were equipped by God to carry out a special work.  Of Bezaleel, the Bible says that God “filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in all manner of workmanship” (Exodus 31:3).  Bezaleel’s work was in gold, silver, brass, stones, and timber (Exodus 31:4-5) while Aholiab’s work was as “an engraver, and cunning workman, and an embroiderer” (Exodus 38:23).  While these men are of the “lesser knowns” in the Bible, there work was of great significance!  They were involved in a work that was of great importance to God.  Today, the Lord still uses men, women, and children to accomplish His work.  Christian, are you available for God to use YOU to complete a work for His glory?
