Studies in the Book of Ruth #6 (2:11-13)

I. RUTH’S REPUTATION (v. 11)
Boaz KNEW about Ruth.  Have you considered that people who watch you KNOW about you!  Your WORK ETHIC speaks volumes about your character.  Ruth had an outstanding reputation because of her work ethic and Boaz took notice.  Does your work ethic make the Lord take notice?

Boaz knew where Ruth had BEEN (her past, the death of her husband)
Boaz knew where Ruth was GOING (what she was doing IN SPITE OF what she had been through)
*How we respond in the midst of trials reveals what is TRULY within us!

II. RUTH’S REWARD (v. 12)
Boaz was one to REWARD the LABOUR of another.  He mentions “a full reward.”  Did you know that rewards (at the judgment seat of Christ) may be lost?  Take a look at Matthew 10:42 for a loss of reward and see 2 John 1:8 for a mention of losing reward vs. receiving “a full reward”

*Remember, that work for the Lord IS REWARDED – see 1 Corinthians 3:11-15, 2 Corinthians 5:10

III. RUTH’S RESPONSE (v. 13)
Notice the words that Ruth uses in responding to Boaz:
*”Let me find favour in thy sight, my lord” – Have YOU found favour in the sight of the Lord?  You can only find favour with God Almighty through the knowledge of His Son the Lord Jesus Christ!

*”for that thou hast comforted me” – Has the Lord provided YOU comfort?  If so, let Him know!  Take a look at John 14:16, 18, 26; 15:26; 16:7 for mentions of “the Comforter”
