I believe we should all respect the American flag. We should stand up for the Pledge of Allegiance and we should honor our flag. We should take our flag seriously and put our hand over our heart during the National Anthem. I respect and honor our American flag and so should you.

Our beautiful flag symbolizes liberty, justice, and freedom which brave soldiers went to war and fought for. I think every time you look at the American flag you should remember them and how they died so you could have freedom. The soldiers who fought, and are still fighting, for our many freedoms are very brave.

Every part of the American flag symbolizes something important. The thirteen stripes stand for the thirteen original colonies. These brave men and women left their home in England and came to America for religious freedom. The white stripes stand for purity and the red stripes for courage. The blue color symbolizes vigilance, perseverance, and justice. The fifty stars on the flag stand for the fifty United States of America. Nicknames for our flag include The Stars and Stripes, The Star-Spangled Banner and Old Glory, a strong name for our very strong flag that still stands.

Our American flag symbolizes many different freedoms. Some people think we are different because our skin color is not the same. Some Americans even treat each other unfairly just because of what they look like. I believe that is wrong. I believe all men are created equal. This is one of the freedoms the American flag symbolizes. Another freedom is the right to believe and worship differently. We have the right to go to church, to pray, and to share God’s word as a faithful Christian. We should thank the Lord for all our many rights and freedoms.

Think of all the people in America who have lost someone they love. Someone brave and willing to leave their family. Someone who loves our country so much that they would go fight so we could be free. Think of all our freedoms. We are so very lucky to be living in a country so free. No one had to go, no one had to fight, but they did. God has blessed the United States of America in so many ways. We should be thankful for our freedoms. I find delight in being an American and I love and cherish our American flag. I would hope and pray that all Americans feel the same.
